Based on announcements from both Prime Minister Scott Morrison and Victorian Premier Daniel Andrews, the following will apply.
Starting tomorrow (March 26 2020):

  • 10 people maximum – a maximum attendance of 10 people will apply to all burials, chapel services and functions. The 10 people maximum  will include client families, funeral director staff and 1 (one) SMCT employee. This new restriction applies to the entire event and means that multiple rooms can no longer be booked.
  • Social distancing directives will still apply – the new restriction is in addition to requiring at least four square metres per person.

As a result of the tighter preventative measures, SMCT will be introducing the following effective Monday (March 30 2020):

  • Limited weekend burials – for logistical safety reasons there will be no weekend burials, except for cases with strict cultural/religious requirements. Burials will be conducted Monday to Friday only, except in special circumstances.
  • Burial window extended – SMCT will require extended notice of up to 24 hours, for those weekend burials granted as an exception to the above.

We anticipate that weekday-only burials will apply from Monday 30 March 2020 (after this weekend). However, the situation is changing rapidly so please watch for updates.

Our cafes will be open in a takeaway capacity only and our florist will remain openTakeaway options are available for families who prefer not to attend a function on-site.
